Varnam Salon Deutschland is the extension to ‘Varnam Salon’ in California. As a seed of an idea VSD team took it up to create a major European counterpart of this fascinating curation.
We plan to have 2 phases of varnam salons in a year. This is to give a chance to as many dancers as possible

2022

2021
Varnam Salon Deutschland premiered on 10, April 2021 on Zoom. Dancers Vineetha Avadhooth, Nimalan Sathiakumar and Nilany Kunasegaran performed their favourite pieces for a very supportive audience of thirty. | Know more
Phase 2 was planned in September but had to be cancelled due to the rise in Corona cases in Germany. This Phase was replaced by Mohamana Tutorial by Dr.Saskia Kersenboom. | Know more
2023 - Phase 1
In 2023, the Varnam Salon Deutschland team is bringing their second LIVE event in Berlin, Germany.
When: 06 May 2023 | 17:00 hours
Where: At Oyoun Kulturzentrum.
2023 - Phase 2
At the moment we are looking for dancers across Germany to perform for our next phase of Varnam Salon Deutschland in September 2023
2022 - Phase 1
In 2022, the VSD team hosted their first live event in Munich, Germany.
Dancers from Dusseldorf (Laxsana Balan), Munich (Deepika Panchamukhi) were invited to perform.
2021 - Phase 1
In 2021, the VSD team began their journey with Phase 1 of Varnam Salon DE.
Due to corona-restrictions the event was held online on Zoom platform. Dancers from Nürnberg (Vineetha Avadhooth), Krefeld (Nimalan Sathiakumar) and Stuttgart (Nilany Kunasegaran) were invited to perform.
Phase 1 was the first ever crowd-funded event of its kind in Germany. The team successfully raised 1100 € from a nurturing audience, friends and family in Germany.

2021 - Phase 2
As part of our Varnam Salon, we brought an immersive 3-day Tutorial by the knowledgeable dancer, academician, and scholar Dr.Saskia Kersenboom. This tutorial was conducted twice for serious dance practitioners who are seeking depth in pieces like Varnam. It was was an intensive session open for all indian classical dance styles.
